What is the Best Calming and Relaxing Foot Massage
How do you know that you will get the best foot massage? What should you be looking for and what can you expect?
Choosing a therapist
Always choose a therapist who is qualified to Diploma level in foot massage or reflexology. You also want someone who is a member of a professional body such as The Federation of Holistic Therapists or Complementary Therapist Association. The therapist should also have professional indemnity insurance and if they are like our therapists they will be Police checked. Any good therapist will happily show you certificates and insurance documents. Don’t be afraid to ask.
It’s important because
Your feet are complex structures made up of 26 bones (a quarter of all the bones in your body!) and over 100 muscles and ligaments. They are designed to be able to grip, allow you to balance and absorb the shock of walking and running.
Every time you take a step your perfectly designed feet absorb shock to protect the structures of your body such as your knees and spine.
Foot massage is a great way to look after your feet, especially combined with a reflexology treatment.
How Foot Massage Works
Here at Phoenix Health and Wellbeing, Leeds, we think we offer the best foot massage. We incorporate reflexology into our relaxing foot treatment.
As we walk, run or stand we are constantly putting pressure on all areas of the foot. A foot massage works by warming and stretching the muscles in the foot to reduce any inflammation around the delicate joints in the foot.
The therapist will begin by gently massaging the feet. They will then work around the feet pressing on specific pressure points.
These points are linked to the organs and structures of the body and pressure on them can gently ease tension and dysfunction in other areas of the body.
